Ends on April 20, 2018

The Athenaeum Press welcomes submissions of project proposals from community members, organizations and faculty for development between August 2018 and May 2019. Projects are developed over one semester, one year, and occasionally over multiple years, and always involve an interdisciplinary group of students and faculty. Collaborative teams, especially those between faculty, students and community members/organizations, are especially encouraged to apply.

Proposals should include the following:
  1. Overview: A brief, 400-750 word overview of the project that includes
    • The significance of the project to the region
    • What research has already been completed
    • Any existing or under-contract publications or presentations on that research
    • The potential audience and/or commercial value of this project.
  2. Biographies: A brief (50-100 word) biography on each person proposing the project
  3. Collaborators and Support Letters: Names, department and rank of faculty members, community partners and/or other team members who have agreed to participate in the project, as well as a short letter of support from each collaborator.
  4. Courses (optional): Specific courses should be targeted for cross-listing with the press course (Coastal course catalog available online here.)
  5. Budget: A preliminary budget that maps out research, equipment and travel costs.

The Athenaeum Press will not consider proposals for:

  1. Projects narrowly defined by an individual’s research agenda.
  2. Completed works that require minimal student involvement and are not compatible with a teaching component.
  3. Projects that require extensive field work prior to development.

The Athenaeum Press will develop, at minimum, two projects over the course of the year. Project timelines are at the discretion of the Athenaeum Press to include consideration of current project goals.

We are happy to meet to discuss proposals and offer feedback. If you would like schedule a meeting, please contact us at athenaeumpress@coastal.edu.
